Geography of the UQAM Campus
The Canadian
Risk and Hazards Network Symposium is being held at the
Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM).
The plenary sessions take place in the Marie-Gérin-Lajoie Hall,
(J-M400) of the Judith-Jasmin (J) Pavilion,
located at 405 Saint Catherine Street East at the corner of
Saint-Denis Street.
Workshops take place in the foyer of the Alfred-Laliberté
Studio-Theatre (J-M400) and in the Hubert-Aquin Pavilion
(A), located at 400 Saint Catherine Street East, at the
corner of Saint-Denis.

Onsite
reception and registration
Pre-symposium and Symposium
Reception and registration take place onsite every day of the
conference from 7:30 a.m. in the foyer of the Marie-Gérin-Lajoie
Hall, located on the metro (subway) level of pavilion J
(entrance at J-M400). The conference documentation,
including a program, a briefcase, and a nametag will be given to
participants.

Participants can also obtain approach assistants wearing
T-shirts with the conference logo. They are at their disposal to
provide information and directions in the various pavilions.
Daily information on the conference
Updated information about the activities and lectures, as well
as any program changes will be announced at the plenary
sessions. Information about changes will also be available at
the registration office (J-M400) and on the 4th floor of
Pavilion A. The Symposium Web site will also be updated
daily.
Media accreditation
Journalists are asked to register at the press table in the
registration office (J-M400). Media relations officers
are available to help journalists identify participants and set
up interviews.
Technical Assistance
Participants in need of technical, computer or multimedia
support during the conference should go to the following rooms
in Pavilion A :
Computers
and Internet Access
Computers with Internet access (cable and wireless) are given to
participants in room A-4020 for the period of the
conference. Connection instructions will be given when you pick
up the computer.
Food
Food service areas are made available for delegates from October
11 to 13.
The Symposium banquet, starting at 6 p.m. on October 12, will be
held in the Gouverneur Place Dupuis Hotel, located at 1415
Saint-Hubert Street.
A fast food court, at the expense of participants, is located on
the metro level of Pavilion A.
Sports centre
The UQAM Sports Centre is accessible free of charge to all the
Symposium participants, on presentation of the
nametag,
between 7 and 11 a.m. The UQAM
Sports Centre Pavilion (CS) is located at 1212 Sanguinet
Street at the corner of René Lévesque Boulevard.
Services for people with reduced mobility
The UQAM Campus is designed to facilitate access for people with
reduced mobility. To enter Pavilion J, they can use the
entrance at 1400 Berri Street, at the corner of Saint Catherine
Street and take the elevator down to the metro level. The
Marie-Gérin-Lajoie Hall (J-M400), where the registration
office is located, is adjacent to the elevators, behind the
glass doors.
Anyone who needs assistance in getting about can call on the
campus accompanying service. Contact the Security and Prevention
Service at 514 987-3101.
Reprography
REPRO-UQAM offers a wide range of services: computer graphics,
digital printing in black-and-white or colour, offset printing,
printing advice, binding, finishing, lamination, lamination,
photocopier rental, self-service photocopying and fax.

Le Bureauphile in the Hubert-Aquin Pavilion (A)
offers stationery supplies, souvenirs, stamps and everyday
items.

Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The
Coop-UQAM in the Judith-Jasmin (J) Pavilion offers
more than 15,000 titles in the social sciences, management
sciences, law, the arts, literature and communications.
Hours: Monday
to Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 8:30 a.m. to
7 p.m.
Banking
services
There are
Caisses Populaires Desjardins ATM on campus in the Hubert-Aquin
Pavilion (A) (metro level), the Management Sciences
Pavilion (R) (entrance 315 Saint Catherine Street), and
the Education Pavilion (N) (entrance 1205 Saint-Denis
Street). There is a National Bank counter in the Berri-UQAM
metro station, near the metro ticket counter. There is also an
ATM in the J.-A. DeSève Pavilion (DS) (metro level).
Parking
There are two
parking lots available on the UQAM campus: the Sanguinet lot,
located at 1435 Sanguinet Street and the Christin lot, located
at 335 Christin Street. The rate is $2 per half hour up to a
daily maximum of $9.
Taxis, bus
and subway
As UQAM is
located downtown, at the Berri-UQAM metro (subway) station, it
is easily accessible by public transport. All city bus routes
connect to one or several metro stations.
A weekly pass,
providing unlimited access to public transport (bus and subway),
is available for $18.50. A three-day tourist pass is also
available for $17. It is also easy to hail a taxi on the street.
Lodging
The official
hotel of the Symposium is the Gouverneur Place Dupuis, located
at 1415 Saint-Hubert Street, in the heart of the Latin Quarter,
close to downtown and Old Montreal.
Notice to
smokers
The UQAM campus
is smoke-free. To ensure the general well-being, there is no
smoking on the campus.
Security and
Prevention Service
Please contact
the Security and Prevention Service at 514 987-3101 regarding
lost objects.
The Security
and Prevention Service offers a preventive escort service 24
hours a day. Participants can move in complete safety from the
car park or the nearest subway station accompanied by a security
agent.
